They try to make the plot revolve around Zeke, who is a really unlikeable character. But they didn't give him very much screen time and they kill him off Before you learn anything cool about him in the plot which was infuriating. Plot - Samuel L Jackson's character was really cool I'll give the movie that. I've even seen people say "A Saw film doesn't have to be about traps" YES IT DOES! That's literally it's entire appeal to everyone! Also Marcus's trap at the end was advertised so well in the trailers, but is extremely lame in execution. Saw is about cool traps and unraveling the mystery that is Jigsaw and his accomplices. That means out of this entire hour and a half movie, you only have 2 traps (Worth like 6 minutes of screentime) that are worth a damn! This movie tried making the plot more about the protagonist (Chris Rock's character) than the traps which is stupid. They were not anything we haven't seen a bazillion times before and they weren't satisfying or even shocking in the least. But the hot wax trap, the glass grinder and the final Marcus Banks trap were all really stupid and not worth anyone's time IMO. The finger trap was also somewhat interesting I'll give the film that. I had to actually look up the traps after watching this film in theaters because I had forgotten, less than 2 hours after watching the movie! The only good trap is the train trap, that one felt original and interesting. in Spiral, the few traps that we do have are extremely short and unmemorable. Traps - There's like what, 5 traps in this entire film? Sure the other Saw films had a similar number of traps per movie, but they were deeply memorable and lasted a pretty long time. Keep in mind, I'm not a picky consumer, I even LIKED Saw 3d for god sakes! Lets just go through the pillars of why this movie sucks. I just personally felt completely assaulted by it's unoriginality and lack of really anything satisfying that the previous Saw films had. Now don't get me wrong I understand why people like this movie and I am not dissing you if you do. And after finally going and seeing Spiral for the first time a few days ago, I am completely dissapointed and sad that this is what the Saw movies have come to. I've seen all of them dozens of times and I've even beaten the games to completion more than once. I want to mention before I get into this post that I love the Saw films.
